Special Education
The role of the Special Education personnel within the State Support Team Region 7 is to provide data-determined high quality technical assistance and high quality professional development to school districts within the region.  This is to be done using a tri-tiered differentiated model so that the high priority districts are able to build capacity to plan and implement school improvement processes that identify and remedy low academic performance of all students.  Currently Special Education personnel utilize the Integrated Education System (IES) tri-tiered model as a means to build capacity for academic and behavioral supports throughout the region

In addition, the Special Education personnel provide high quality technical assistance and professional development to districts, families, and communities regarding compliance with state and federal special education laws and regulations governing the delivery of services to students with disabilities and students at risk of being identified as disabled.  The focus is to engage districts and parents in conversations on instruction and the relationship of procedural compliance as one strategy to increase academic achievement.

The Special Education personnel also work with the Ohio Center for Autism and Low Incidence (OCALI) to support the use of technology in the schools.  In collaboration with OCALI high quality professional development is offered on the topics of Transition and Autism.
