Prerequisite: Phonics First Level I or Structures Level I
This course emphasizes instruction of the learning/language-disabled student at all grade-levels. Upon completion, teachers are eligible to apply for the course practicum which leads to the internationally recognized Orton-Gillingham Dyslexia Specialist Certification.
This course will provide participants with expertise in:
- Advanced concepts of decoding, encoding, and morphology.
- Differentiating lessons designed for struggling/LD/dyslexic students.
- Multisensory comprehension, Reciprocal Reading strategies, syntax (grammar).
- Utilizing the Orton-Gillingham strategies in both Phonics First® (K-5) and Structures® (6-12) qualifying teachers to be proficient with struggling readers K-12.
